WHAT'S UP! - 2003

12/22/2003

HAPPY HOLIDAYS I finally got more crap done, I should have page 3 up by Monday during the day sometime. I have to rework some of the other pages but hope to have some more posted by next Sunday. I'll write more of an update tomorrow as well, I wanna get back to work on the 3 page now.

11/23/2003

Sorry, only posting thumbnails of the first three pages to issue 2. I have thumbnails for about half the issue so far but don't want to give to much away so I'll be posting the actual pages ASAP. I need to finish the thumbnails for the rest of the issue first, go over it for any corrections and then I'll start drawing the real pages. I hope to have new pages posted during this week. Expect that the finished pages may appear in design different than the thumbnails because I tend to edit and reedit or write and rewrite as I go along. Hopefully, this process leads to a better comic overall in writing and art.

11/16/2003

OK, The 1st issue for online viewing is complete. I changed all the dialogue that I thought could be improved and had a friend check as well. I changed a couple of aspects with the art on certain pages as well. I didn't get to the thumbnails on the 2nd issue yet. I'll start tomorrow.

11/16/2003

Shaded pgs 20 and 21, So all the pages for the first issue of MOHO are shaded that are going to be shaded. I'll probably correct a little of the dialogue today and then I will alter the cover for the 1st issue. Hopefully I'll start doing the thumbnails for the 2nd issue today as well. I also have to start 5 illustration ideas ASAP, because I need money, not to mention that I have to design the cover for the 2nd issue. Nuff blabbing must work or sleep, perhaps I can even eat somewhere in there.

11/14/2003

Shaded pgs 22 and 23, only 2 left to shade.

11/12/2003

Shaded pg 19. Ooops I saved pg 17 to the wrong folder so I posted it with the shading and without the dialogue. It has been corrected.

11/9/2003

Shaded pgs 17 and 18.

11/8/2003

Sorry about no update. Had to get a lot of personal crap done. I'm pretty satisfied so far with the rewrite on the 2nd issue. So, I should be working on new pages soon. I might post all the little thumbnails of the pages to show how I start and then follow up with the sketchy versions, ink versions and lastly the shaded or grayscale version. I also finished coloring page 24. Now pg 24 is more in the style of coloring that I want all the pages in as opposed to 15 and 16. I need to make those pages more painterly.

I also put up the MOHO glossary. I'll try to post a character design page as soon as possible.

10/27/2003

Well the dialogue for pages 20 - 24 are in. I might put a GRR on 22 and 23 but haven't decided if I want it there yet. Plus I might put a FWHOOSH for Dania's weapon flying through the air on page 23, but not sure there either. I hope everyone understands that the frames on page 20 and 21 with the lines in green are how Dania's seeing things through nanotech enhanced eyes, which provide her the night vision. Thigns will look a little clearer I think when it is all shaded, because right now a lot of the panels look like day time but it will really look almost pitch black. Well gotta go to work tomorrow so nighty night all. ZZZzz

10/26/2003

YES, YES YES AND YES I am done with all the drawing and inking of the first issue. Well technically, I still have to put in some speed lines and shade pages but I am done. I should have the text for the last few pages up tomorrow night. I'l be shading the pages that need it after that, while rewriting the 2nd issue. I'll probably post a glossary of sorts this week too.

10/23/2003

Almost at the end of the 1st issue. Yeah! ^_^ The sketchy layouts for MOHO pages 20 - 22 are posted. Should be inked with text soon. Hopefully will be shaded soon there after.

10/17/2003

Sorry, for the delay. Pages 17 through 19 are now inked with dialogue. I won't be shading them until the last pages are finished. Starting to work on page 20 now.

10/13/2003

I'm sweating. Well I almost had three new pages done for today. Should hopefully have the sketchy new pages of 17 - 19 posted by tomorrow night. If I can't put up the dialogue by tomorrow, then I'll have it by Wednesday night. I want to finish the 1st issue by next week. There are 22 pages to maybe 24 if I wanna throw in the extra splash pages. One of the places I'm working at isn't doing to well so I maybe making even less money then I usually do. Hopefully, things will get better there because it will screw up a lot of things for me and a whole bunch of other people. I may try to get some quick illustrations done while rewriting the 2nd issue to obtain more freelance work.

10/7/2003

Ok, pages 15 and 16 have dialogue. I've started page 17 but won't be finishing it tonight since I have to get up by at least 6:30 am to go to work. There will be new pages by next week and I'll stop myself from other experiments until at least the 1st issue is done.

10/6/2003

OK, technically it is Monday morning, but pages 15 and 16 are shaded. I did a lot of coloring experiments this week and I'm sure that I'm going to digitally color the pages now instead of traditional media. Plus instead of just shading them in Black and White I think I'll try coloring them from now on, then post them in grayscale. I'm putting up pages 15 and 16 in color so that everyone can get an idea of the coloring and style. However these two pages aren't quite done yet, I still have to do things to the black line and I want to make them look more painterly. In the comic section you'll find pages 15 and 16 in gray and here are the links to the color versions of 15 and 16. I should 've gotten the dialogue written in, but I think I'll have to wait till tomorrow sorry. Hopefully I'll be able to post page 17 also tomorrow.

10/1/2003

Oh how low have I fallen. Toooo much stress not a good thing. The flow is returning and all matters will be taken care of. Starting to work on the body as well as the mind. I will commit to having some kind of update every week. Two more pages are drawn and inked for the MOHO comic. I'll have them shaded and dialoged by Sunday with mores pages on Sunday or Monday. I plan to finish the 1st issue by mid Oct, which it was supposed to be done already. I had some major problems drawing page 16. I did that page at least 3 times and am more satisfied with the end results. It still has a minor tweaking on it to be done but otherwise I move on. I have to rewrite the second issue, but hopefully this will not stop the flow of updates I want to maintain. Plus I'm writing a little prologue prose that might help people understand certain things going on. I'm also thinking of having a glossary page people can click to for terms that are new and unusual.

Once I'm satisfied with my output I'll try to post Germany pics and give some more details. I don't have a FAQ section on the website, because I haven't really been asked any questions. Please, if anyone has a question about me, my art or my comic email me or post it in the guestbook and I'll try to answer it as best as possible. Thanks, that's all for now.

9/7/2003

Ok, I'm back and the trip was great! I'll give more details in a little while. I'll probably be posting some castle pics I took while in Germany. Shaded pages 12 - 14 of the comic and here is a sketch of a model I did while I was away.

8/20/2003

Well, as stated some time earlier I'm hitching a ride with my Mom to go to Germany. I'll be gone till Sept 3. It is sorta a vacation and at the same time sad because 2 of my uncles passed away in 2002. Anyhoo, upon my return I'll get cracking on the shading for pages 12-14 and try to finish the first issue by end of Sept. Till then!

8/19/2003

Inked versions with dialog of pages 12-14 are in the comic section.

8/9/2003

OK, Page 10 and 11 of MOHO are shaded with dialog in the comic section. I have to start timing myself again, because I'm going far slower than I expected. The inking, shading and text took a lot longer. I did rewrite stuff from my original dialog, plus I changed the font again. The font will remain like this unless someone tells me they can't read it. I also changed a couple of other things within in the following pages, but I will get this to my desired speed. More pages as soon as possible.

I'm going to post the guest strip pages of "FALLEN" I did for Aido's web comic, since it will give me something else to add. These pages are in color and reside in the main gallery under fanart.

8/1/2003

I'm going to my older brother's this weekend, but I hope to have at least pages 10 and 11 shaded with dialog by Sunday night. I'll also try to have 12 at least sketched by then. I think my routine is starting to come around, so the updates will hopefully be 3 pages a week shaded with text. I want to be on page 15 by next Sunday.

Comics - If you like Samurai's and mystical powers, which I do, then I think you should check out "Samurai Guard" at Colburn Comics. Kirk Abrigo is the main man behind "Samurai Guard". I met Kirk last year at the Madison Square Garden Convention. He had this great display which catches your eye and a Samurai Sword just sitting there waiting to be stolen by me. Sorry I've always wanted one and he raffles a samurai sword off each day of the convention. I talked to him a bit then but didn't buy the book because I was hoping to come away with enough money to go to the Chicago convention and figured our paths would cross again. I did manage to go last year to Chicago. We met yet again at a subsequent smaller convention in NYC, where we talked a lot more and I finally picked up the first issue, which I believe he is now sold out of the original 18,000 prints. I hope I can only do that good. I read the book on the way home and was truly captivated by the writing on the first page. Kirk really describes the setting and pulls you into his world. By the end of the first issue I regretted being the cheap broke idiot that I am for not having bought the second issue. Well now I've got up to the 3rd issue and he has published the 5th issue. I have to make more money, since I did lousy at the conventions this year and can't afford to go to Chicago. Speaking of the Chicago Con. Kirk is going and not only has he helped me with vital knowledge about self-publishing, by having a link to my website on his, by giving me props in his blog, but he also is willing to bring flyers of my stuff to the Chicago Con. I just need to finish the art for the flyers. This is a great guy who knows how to tell some cool Samurai stories.

Music - I was supposed to have this info up sooner as well, but haven't had the time. My friend Yang Da Dark, who I did two of his CD Demo covers which can be seen in the main gallery, is DJ ing a steady gig every Thursday night at Molly Blooms 2. You can check out their temporary site at AbsyntheMinded. The Clubs address and all pertinent info is on their website. If your in the Amityville area stop by to check out Yang's mastery of Drum & Bass. I'll also be there in support. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to put some mp3s of his music on the site.

Sunday Sunday must have it done by Sunday. Sleepy time now. ACK! 3:20 am ZZZZzzzzzzzz

7/24/2003

SORRY OFF SCHEDULE. MOHO pages 8 and 9 are shaded with text. I now have the super big scanner and hope to get back on schedule. More details later.

7/16/2003

Ok I forgot that I need to scan the inks at Laz's, since he has the Gigante, big, HUGE scanner at his place. So no shaded pages for tomorrow. I'll see if I can do it for Sunday with more pages. Epson just put out a new scanner driver for the gigantic scanner and that means once I can get my hands on a SCSI PCI card; I can bring the super scanner to my Papa's abode. Thus making updates easier to post on the website. I finally added to my link page. I took the banners off for now. I'll put them back on when I revamp the whole site.

Check out - Verge Entertainment. A friend of mine, Joe Illidge, is the Head of Development there and he has always given me good advise on how to improve myself. He works hard and that work is looking BAM, WOW, CooOOL, HOT!!!! They have two TV pilot ideas already crafted and showing on the Verge website. They have stories that will appeal to a wide audience. Go! GO! See for yourselves. You'll need a Flash plug-in.

I met Jesse Chan at the Madison Square Garden Convention. He has already published a comic book "She's a Nightmare" of around 80 pages. I like his style of art and the story is very interesting. "Quoted from his website - ' "She's a Nightmare" features a pair of "underground sleuths" or "special consultants" and their associates in exciting adventures and dangerous confrontations. They are often sought out to right the wrongs that have been forgotten; to fend off larger-than-life foes whose tentacles stretch to every corner of the law; and to aid in matters that are too trivial for the establishment but still sentimental to the people involved." - Jesse has two comic books in COLOR around 80 pages on the web that you can read. Definitely worth getting in printed form. I believe he is at the San Diego Convention this weekend. Check it out at - HighAims.Comix.

7/14/2003

Finally, I sort of have new pages. The pencils are done for pages 8 and 9. I hope to have the words and shading done Thursday night. Hopefully next Monday I'll try for three new pages with text and shading. I did these pages over and over and still don't like most of it,but they are better than how they started. Plus the original page 8 was expanded to two pages. I should also have a new links page up soon. it won't have banners at first, until I figure out Cascading Style Sheets. The pencils are posted in the MOHO section.

7/7/2003

OK sent most of the weekend designing crap for MOHO and adjusting the next pages. I haven't finished them yet and have to go to work tomorrow, so early to bed tonight. I should be pounding on them starting on Wednesday. I hope all the practicing is helping a little because I need to improve ACK. I did another painted rendering of a Model in Photoshop 7. I think I'm getting fater at this, which I might use this coloring technique for MOHO. Plus I might try to do some cover illustrations of Marvel or DC characters to drum up some work, because I need some serious dough, moolah, money, cash.

7/6/2003

What have I been up to. Checked out the MOCCA Festival in NYC on June 22. It was very cool. It was in the Puck building, which at first sounded familiar to me but wasn't sure. When I got there I realized that it was the same place I saw a gallery showing of Yoshitaka Amano's work. He did the designs for Vampire Hunter D - the original one, Final Fantasy V - VII, G - Force or Battle of the Planets, Illustrations to a Neil Gaiman book - I forgot which one and tons of other art and designs. Oh yeah, MOCCA, I got there around 2 hours before they closed. I wish I had gotten there earlier, because there was so much stuff to check out. It was only 2 rooms, but it was packed with wall to wall talent. There was so much diversity in comic styles, stories and art. MONKEYSUIT PRESS was there, but I missed Prentis who had left earlier. He has put out a compilation book of his material from the Monkeysuit Anthologies. I hope I'll be able to get him to sign it. I also met Aido for the 2nd time. I actually passed her once and then realized later that it might be her. Finally, we crossed paths again and I asked to make sure. She was very excited at my giving her the pages I did for her guest comic thingy. The art for the pages wasn't that great and so later on I decided to color them to make them worthy of her joy. I'll have to do an illustration of her characters for her at some point to make up for the art I did on the guest strips. All should check Aido's art and comic Fallen. She has the guest comics posted on her comic Fallen's site. Aido is 100% cool. She introduced me to Vera who I also got to talk with a little while and seemed very kewl. Vera has her own online comic called Return to Sender. Check it out.

The New York International SciFi & Fantasy Creators Convention at Madison Square Garden in New York -- June 27-29, 2003. Probably the last convention I'll go to this year. Mostly do to lack of funding. Was thinking of going to Chicago, howvever definitely can't afford it right now. SPX Expo, which Vera had talked about, is already sold out of tables. I thought it had been but wasn't sure. A friend of mine Jose, who writes Tall Tails, is going to the SPX Expo and said they usually sell out of vendor tables for the next year 2 months after the show. That's super fast. Madison Square Garden didn't go that well for me this year. I should have had my ashcan ready and didn't. Met a lot of great new people and saw a lot of peeps that I hadn't seen since last year. Even though I didn't sell much I had fun! There was a guy in the booth next to me though who would sing from time to time. It was HORRIBLE SINGING. Sometimes you had to just laugh because it was so BAD and he had no shame. However, the singer on Sunday went to far, he sang so loud - sending shivers up everyones spine - that Ken Kelly, the Fantasy Artist - around 50 yrs old, big guy and sat opposite the Singers table, went over put his hand around the Singers guitar to stop the music and asked him to stop. The singer reacted first by singin' louder until the very very VERY SERIOUS face of Ken Kelly asked him again to stop. He finally went down to a murmur of sound, which pleased EVERYONE!! His singing actually made people leave our area, because you couldn't talk to a customer over the bad and loud singing. OUCH my ears are still bleeding. The rest of the guys at the Singers table seemed pretty cool though and they felt bad sometimes for everyone. I forgot my camera so i don't have any pics this year boohoo.

Happy JULY 4th! One of my cousins, Andi, and his girl friend are visiting the USA. I got the chance to take them around New York City on July 4th. They wanted to check out Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, Broadway, Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrict's Cathedral and the July 4th fireworks. There were many other things they also wanted to see but we didn't have more time. I had never seen the fireworks in the city before and hadn't done some of the other stuff either. The fireworks display was by far the BEST I had ever seen. There were TONS AND TONS of people. I think the day went pretty well and they said they enjoyed it a lot. They are going to NYC on Monday again to a Broadway play and much more. I hope to see Andi again in August, when my mother plans to go to Germany - I'm hitching a ride with her.

When my guest pages for Aido's Fallen are posted, I'll shout it out hear so the interested can check them out. Time to get back to working on my own comic. This was supposed to be the blog that was going up on Thursday, except 4th of July. ACK!

7/2/2003

Another Quick update. Will blog more on Thurs. night. Added shading to pages 6 and 7.

6/30/2003

Quick update. Will blog more on Wed. I added a Fanart section to the main gallery. I put all the versions of the Li character that I did there and Aido's character Singe. I've also inked pages 5-7 of my MOHO comic and shaded pg 5. Page 6 and 7 will be shaded on Wed. I'll have new pages posted by Monday the 7th. You may have to refresh the pages to see the changes. More details on MOCCA Festival and MSG Convention on Wed. Thanks to T Walker for signing the OGX guestbook. It is good to get feedback. Hopefully someone will also sign mine, ya know the one above.

6/6/2003

One of my best friends is getting married next weekend and were going camping for his bachlor's party this weekend so I'll try to have something new soon. I have not been liking my work lately so I've been practicing and experimenting. I did finish a piece of fanart of the character Li from the Strings of Fate comic. I forgot to put her bangs in though, because I'm an idiot. Anyhoo, I might try to put the bangs in later, but if you wanna check it out click for Li here.

5/31/2003

Tis my B-day and I believe my little bro is going to treat me to Finding Nemo. He is a cool little bro.

Finally, I have been able to get my domain's whois to show up with me as the registrant and administrative contact. Now all that remains is for Dotregistrar, who inherited the domain from Featureprice.com - former hosting Co., to switch it over to DreamHost. I hope this happens soon.

I did the touch ups to pages 5-7. I noticed I forgot Niko's little cape in pages 5 and 6. I'll post them as soon as I can scan them at a friend's place. I usually scan the rough drafts at letter size, but the actual pages are done at 11" x 17" with a border of 10" x 15", which is standard comic size. I already started page 8. I finished the fanart I did of Aido's character Singe. Click for Singe here. Aido actually remembered me and was very cool to already help me out with more hosting info just in case Dreamhost doesn't quite work out either. She is having some guest artists do some guest strips for her during the summer and if I can help her out and she wants my help, it will be a cool thingy. Well, hopefully June goes a bit smoother and MUCH ART gets done!

5/25/2003

Well now I have my own guestbook. I hope people will feel like leaving comments about the art and the comic.

My luck just sucks this month because a good part of the day I spent trying to connect to the OGX website. I was able to connect to the rest of the entire internet but not my own site. Plus, I was unable to get Emails. I waited more than 4 hours to hear from my hosting company only for them to say everything was fine. I checked to see if I could connect and I still couldn't. I was like AcK and ARRG and so before I went to send another trouble note to my Hosting company I went on my brothers computer and Wahlah! The site came right up and emails came in. I tried my computer again and dead silence filled the room. My computer was stopping me from viewing my own website or checking my own email. HOW MESSED UP IS THAT! This month is trying to kill ME. I hope this bad luck doesn't get worse and maybe if I'm nice it will turn around a little. I inked page 7 and hope to have page 5 and 6 inked by tomorrow night. Then I'll start working on page 8 again.

On a lighter note if you missed reading HEROBEAR and the KID when it came out in single issues. Mike Kunkel just published a trade paperback of the 5 issues. I bought all the individual issues and the trade too. It is both written and drawn GREAT!!!! Go to The Astonish Factory.com to view his work. It is a hardcore FLASH site so have the FLASH plugin.

5/19/2003

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGG!! ACK! What a an abusive month this has been. Actually, it kind of started in April with our old Hosting company changing their infrastructure. I think with the time I spent on changing our servers and reading the new manuel for the new set-up on our old hosting companies plan to finding a new hosting company and transferring the data I've lost a month's work on the MOHO comic. I just checked OGX's domain whois and were still registered under the old company, which is bad because it has to be switched before the bloody domain expires. I hope DreamHost, new hosting company, will be able to help in this matter because it is still hard to reach Featureprice. Although, I think they just started answering Customer service calls now. I'll have to try that on Friday. I still wanna revamp the website and I have links that I need to put on the website and adjust other ones. I'm thinking of putting all music oriented stuff in a separate sub domain as well as giving MOHO its own sub domain, but we'll see I should ask the others what they think. No time or money and so much to do.

I also had a case of Identity Theft recently and wish I had the computer skills of a hacker, because last year this happened as well except not so bad. I just wish they would leave the little money and credit I have alone. I'm broke and still people are trying to rob me!!!! ACK and DOUBLE INDUSTRIAL STRENTGH AAAAACK!!!

Well at least school is over now and I'm going to FOCUS FOCUS BLOODY FOCUS ON THE ART AND WEB CRAP. I did fan art of Mao from Jen's Strings of Fate comic. Click for Mao here. I plan on joining Jen's SOF Forum this weekend with hopefully more fan art to post there and also join Aido's Forum with some fan art as well. I wonder if Aido will even remember me from last year's I-CON convention. Her web site is The Mini Fridge of DOOM. She also has a coool comic called FALLEN.

Earlier blogs, I complained that I had to change my comic book title from SYN to MOHO, because Dark Horse Comics is coming out with a comic called SYN this summer. I just did a search on Obsidian Graphics as well as Obsidian Graph-X and I noticed that someone is selling things under obsidian graphics in Cafe Press. This is not us at OGX studios. I own the domain www.obsidiangraphics.com, so I hope in the end there won't be any confusion.

As far as art for the comic and other art stuff I should hope to post some new stuff by May 26. I'll be working on another album cover for Yang Da Dark, featuring Midnight and Logic. Phil Young AKA SET are going to be working on this cover together. Some alterations will be done to pages 5-7 in the MOHO comic before the new pages are done this should not take long. Anyhoo, time to do some bloody Art and I mean it is gonna be bloody. LOGGIN OUT MORPHEUS

P.S. I thought the X-Men 2 movie was very very cool and was better than the first. Plus, although I've heard a lot of critics bust on the Matrix Reload and a number of friends didn't think it was all that at first. I think it was great. It is hard to say whether it was better or worse than the first. I mean the whole premise that the machines needed to use humans as batteries is bad, because they could have used cows or rabbits for that matter combined with a type of fusion to create their batteries and they wouldn't have the human matrix problem at all. Getting past this though the Philosophical questions contained within are some of the ones which have plagued humans since we could think, one example WHY DO I EXIST?, and it is so cooOOL how they rap them into the newest format with some of the GREATEST I-CANDY YET! OK that's all folks I'm being ripped off the computer AHHHH!

4/26/2003

Didn't go back to drawing comic because Yang gave me the Track info and important peeps info, who helped with the making of Sound of Inevitability I did three versions that Yang has to decide which one he wants to go with. All 3 can be viewed in the main gallery. Phil Young did the Awesome LOGO which is incorporated into the Back or Interior Art design.

When I finish the comic I'm going to revamp the website adding new areas including one for music. I hope to put some samples of Yang's music and some other friends who are doing more Hip-Hop jams.

4/25/2003

A new MOHO page is up. I have to increase my output. I have also been working on some art for an album cover for a friend. Yang is putting out a new CD called Sound of Inevitability. The art for it is in the main gallery under illustrations. It supposed to look really scary and I think some of it comes across as horrific. Back to drawing comic.

4/19/2003

Besides the MOHO pages I added three sketches to the main gallery under the comic samples. I needed to see if I could still draw. The first is of a model by the name of DragonLily, which was rendered in color pencils and the the second of a model I just found reference on, which I did in pencil and then colored on the computer. I think I'm starting to get the hang of painting in Photoshop. I used to use the airbrush all the time when I colored my illustrations that were done on the computer, but with Photoshop 7's new brush stuff I think I'll be doing this more often. I like the rougher style and maybe what I use for the comic or I'll stick with traditional, which ever gets the job done better and quicker. Quicker is a definite must since money is extremely low.

Well, now to get more pages for the comic done. Jen, who does the Strings of Fate comic has been adding many new pages and they look ACK! INCREDIBLE, SO COOOOL AND ORGANIC I aspire to get mine to look that good. Hopefully, my writing will also improve as I go along. That's it for now.

4/19/2003

Pages 1-5 have been altered slightly again. I figured out one of the problems I was having with the text. For the printed version I may still change things slightly because you can have the text printed smaller and still be legible letting more art come through.

Page six is also posted now as well. Well, still a learning process and the more I do I seem to get a little faster. I just wish my art was starting to look better. I'm none to happy about the recent pages, but at the moment I'm not sure what else to do. The more time that passes the more I realize what things can be corrected. So, I try not to make these errors again. Back to table. DRAW! boy DRAW!

4/13/2003

Ok I posted pg 5 going slow as hell but hope to speed up soon and spring break is this week. I'm also working on Album covers for a couple of friends so I'm trying to get everything organized. Hopefully post another couple pages as soon as tonight or tomorrow. ACK!

4/5/2003

Updated Pages 3 and 4 of MOHO. They actually have text now and have been slightly altered for the better. I'm starting on the new pages today. The website has been switched over to the new servers and I believe everything is working properly.

If you haven't seen Spirited Away in the movies go check it out. I saw it twice when it first came out and might go see it again. I think it might also be on DVD by now, which I am also going to get. Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are great and I've been a fan of his since Kiki's Delivery Service and Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind - both manga & anime. Studio Ghibli already put out a new movie in Japan called The Cat Retuns, which I have the Art of and it looks really COOOOL!

Hope to finish the 1st issue of MOHO by end of April if possible so that I can go to the Phili Convention. Well back to work.

3/23/2003

I have added dialogue to the first two pages of MOHO plus I've altered them with a little more black and some red. I'll try to get more pages done before the ICON convention next week. I also made it so you can just click to the next page instead of having to go to the main page. If any onyone want to link directly to the MOHO page use www.mohocomic.com or if you want to link to my main page use www.dmontoya.com and just click OGX Logo at the bottom of the menu bar to check out what else is going on with Obsidian Graph-X. By the way, the OGX website can be reached by obsidiangraph-x.com, www.obsidiangraph-x.com, and www.obsidiangraphics.com. WoAH my head is spinning.

There maybe slight problems accessing the website soon because our hosting company changed their infrastructure and I'll be uploading things to there new destination soon. Another reason why I haven't drawn I had to figure out the more computer stuff not to mention paying more attention to class work. Reconstruction of website will be delayed till the first issue or episode of the comic is done. I want to do it now, but realize the story is more important.

Just for whatever, sometimes ya gotta scream AAAACK! or if your Aido you might say squeee

OH THE HELL! OK, excuses, excuses I had forgot to check my syllabus and had to cram for a Mid-term. ICON a Sci-Fi Fantasy convention at Stony Brook University takes place on March 28, 29 and 30. I have a table there and so all this past weekend I've spent most of my time printing new prints for the show.

The prints I'm going to be selling are my illustrations at letter size and 13" x 19", which both are on premium luster photo paper printed on my newly acquired Epson 2200. It tis so cool! But frekkin' costly! ACK wallet no like. The letter size will cost $7.00 and the larger prints $10.00.

I wanted to have the ash-can of MOHO done but I'm still on page 5 AAAAAAACK! One weekend left so I'll get as much done before ICON. As fast as I can I'll also have the bloody literature that should accompany my scribbles.

Oh yeah, I did a revamp on one of my MITH illustrations. It is in the Main Gallery in the illustrations section on the second line. Well time to go zzzzzzzzzzz..

Makin' a comic for the first time is HELL! Let me tell anybody who is listening. Having some problems, but I will resolve them. I finally got around to changing most of the SYN labeled stuff to MOHO, but I forgot to put the Japanese Kanji behind the word MOHO, because it is also a word in Spanish with a different meaning. I just remembered I have a quiz tomorrow and I'm not prepared. Yeah... Not ACK! Well at least their are 2 more pages to MOHO. ICON convention is coming at the end of March and I need to get so much more done. ACK! DRAW Study....zzzz!

8 days later and I finally have pages without dialogue but the comic has begun. I was planing to have more but a lot of this is still new. Meaning changing perspective and making sure everything is according to design. Well I should be posting new pages nest week with the dialogue for all and then I'll try to add some shading as well. No color as of right now, it would take to long. Might post designs in the mid week. Later and anybody with comments just email me. Bah Bye!

I'm not happy that it has taken this long, but I'm very happy that I've laid out the first issue of MOHO. I'm just about finished with the 1st page. I'm donig it at 11" X 17", which is to big for the scanner I have at home and will have to wait to go and scan it at a friends house. I hope to have more pages by the time I scan. Not sure how many, but as I start to get more of a routine down I'll try to have a specific day for updates. I'm going to do my best at having the 1st issue completed to sell as an ashcan for ICON - a convention at Stony Brook University. The convention is March 28,29 & 30. Laz, Justin and myself should all be there. Wishful thinking is that I'll also have revamped the web site and another illustration based on MOHO.

If anybodies been to my link section u should all check out MONKEYSUIT they have an awesome flash animation depicting a new series premiering on Adult Swim called the Venture Bros. and Prentis Rollins'- a friend - has a new book of comic material called Survival Machine. Check out Strings of Fate an awesome comic that has been recently updated. Aido keeps updating her comic Fallen which I also think deserves much praise and can be found by clickin' the Mini Fridge of Doom banner also on the link page. I have to get her Fallen banner and some many others. No life no Life....

ACK I have no life and it looks to remain that way till at least after ICON. Thank someone for no class tomorrow, perhaps I'll be able to finish page 2 as well. wishin......

5th and final sample spidey page is DONE and in the Main Gallery. I'm going to start working on the pages for my comic ASAP. I have to finish rewriting the first issue. I have to start revamping the website so I can using the new name MOHO instead of SYN. SYN was short for synthetic and in the story it was also a sin to create an A.I. In Japanese MOHO means imitation and I thought it was cooler than Gosei which means synthetic in Japanese. I also looked for words take might be cool in at least 7 to 8 languages, but I'm going to stick with MOHO. Hopefully, no large comic company is planning to use this title. I need to get the ashcan done by end of March because that is when I'm attending ICON the sci-fi convention at Stony Brook University.

OK it is now 1:11 am in the morning and I still have to do my homework for class tomorrow. AAAHGG!

OK the 4th spidey page is COMPLETE and in the Main Gallery. Already started the 5th and FINAL page. Then I can send it off to see what the companies think, perhaps get a job. Once the 5th sample page is done I'll be putting the pages for my comic up as soon as possible. First uploaded in Black & White and then in Color. I'm rewriting it now. More full scale designs of the characters and places will probably come first.

I bought the latest version of HTML which looks like it is turning into something called XHTML. I hope to learn this quickly in the next couple weeks and revamp the web site, while of course starting class this coming Wednesday.

Almost a month later AAACK! NO GOOD MUST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN! The 3rd page in my spidey series is now in the Main gallery. I hope to have the 4th page done this weekend. I need to start drawing my comic so I'm going to try and put more steam behind my pencil. I got caught up in the Holidays and wasn't feeling to good either so not to much art was finished.

I have been doing more research for my comic, which I will be changing the name from SYN. This is because I saw an advertisement in Wizard magazine for a comic called SYN that will be published in the summer of 2003 by Dark Horse. I have copyrighted my story, but did not trademark the title and would not want to lose a lot of money in court over it. Finally, saw Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers and it was AWESOME!. I love how they did Gollum. I also picked up The art of Star Wars: Episode II. The designs in this book are phenomenal.
